How to Determine Your
Pet's Theme Flower Essences
Understanding your pet’s theme
essence is an invaluable tool for forging a deeper animal/human
bond. The animals we love express their uniqueness in a thousand
different ways, definable by one or two main character strengths
(called a theme, or double-theme, essence), expressed in their
personalities. For example, an eternally youthful, playful animal
is a Spinach theme; an exceptionally curious pet is an Avocado
theme. Just as the previous questionnaire
identifies an animal’s flower essence needs (through plot
essences), so the theme essence construct explains the basic
personality of your pet according to predominant strengths.
Place a checkmark by each statement that describes your pet’s
basic nature as you understand it. Several groupings overlap
in qualities; see the Answer Key at the end of the statements
for further interpretation. Once you determine your pet’s
theme essence(s), you may want to read a more complete theme

Key
Two out of three checked statements in a grouping
indicates a probable theme essence for your animal. If
more than two groupings contain three checkmarks, prioritize
the two sets of qualities that seem most predominant in
your pet; the remaining groups indicate that your pet
often expresses the positive states of the corresponding
essences. A kitten purring, for example, is demonstrating
the positive Orange state; a puppy guarding your property
is expressing the positive Grape condition.
